All our staff and students at Queensway Secondary School (QSS) warmly welcome you, our new Secondary 1 student, and your parents/guardians to our school.
1. Posting Matters

Students posted to QSS need not report to the school after the release of school posting results.

2. e-Registration and Orientation matters
All incoming 2025 Secondary 1 students must register online via Parents Gateway (PG). A welcome letter will be sent to all parents/guardians via PG by Thursday, 19 December 2024. You can also complete the registration online by clicking on this link.
Parents/guardians not onboard PG are encouraged to onboard PG by downloading the PG application.

The Sec 1 Orientation Programme will be held on the 2, 3, 6 and 7 January 2025. The Orientation Programme will provide students an opportunity to know the school and ease the transition from primary school to secondary school.
Kindly note that students are to report to school by 8 am on Thursday, 2 January 2025. They will assemble in the atrium basketball court. More information will be provided in the welcome letter.
Reporting Time/Dismissal Time/Attire:
Students need not bring their schoolbooks on the above-mentioned days. Official lessons will only start on Wednesday, 8 January 2025.
3. Sec 1 Meet-the-Parent session/CCA Fair/Campfire
Parents/guardians are invited to attend the Meet-the-Parents Session (MTPS), CCA Fair and Campfire on Friday, 10 January 2025 from 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm. More information will be provided in the welcome letter via PG.
4. Class allocation
By 31 December 2024, parents/guardians can check their PG for their child’s/ward's class allocation. The class information will also be available in our foyer at the start of the school year.
5. School textbooks and school uniform
You may purchase the school textbooks and uniforms online or in school. Online orders and payments could be made via the supplier’s websites.

For Approved MOE-FAS students
Students who are approved under MOE-FAS need not purchase their school textbooks and school uniforms online. The collection of school textbooks and school uniforms will be on Monday, 23 December 2024.
6. Personal Learning Devices (PLD)
The NDLP was launched in March 2020 to make digital learning inclusive by equipping students with the digital skills to be future-ready.
Under the NDLP, every secondary school student will own a school-prescribed personal learning device (PLD). Students may use funds from their Edusave Account to pay for the PLD.
The school-prescribed PLD is the Acer Chromebook Spin R857TN Convertible. More details on procurement and costing will be provided to parents/guardians via PG later.
7. Subjects at more/less demanding levels
Full SBB is part of MOE’s ongoing efforts to nurture the joy of learning and develop multiple pathways to cater to the different strengths and interests of our students.

If your child/ward is eligible to take a subject at a more demanding level, a PG acceptance form will be sent to you by Thursday, 19 December 2024, 12pm.

8. Mother Tongue Language Matters

9. Financial Assistance Scheme
Singapore citizens in financial need can get assistance from MOE on school fees and other expenses. Students who require financial assistance can submit their application via e-FAS (Click here). All information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality. Please contact Ms Shalini (Corporate Support Officer) at qss@moe.edu.sg for queries.
10. Student Smart Card (SSC) for concessionary travel
All students entering Secondary 1 in January 2025 will be issued a new Secondary-level School Smart Card (SSC).
While waiting for the new SSC, students can use their Primary-level SSCs for concessionary travel until end-April 2025.
11. Appeals and School Transfer Procedures
(A) Appeals for transfer into Queensway Secondary School (non-medical reasons)
Student transfers are subject to the availability of vacancies at the school.
Students successfully allocated to their DSA school will not be allowed to transfer to another school. They are expected to honour their commitment to the allocated DSA school for the entire duration of the programme.
Please note that your PSLE score must meet our school’s cut-off point (COP) for the posting year.
All appeal forms (click here) are to be submitted by Friday, 27 December 2024, 12pm.
(B) Appeal for transfer out to another school for medical reasons
For students who require a transfer from Queensway Secondary School to another school due to serious medical conditions or severe physical impairments, parents must appeal directly at our school’s general office during the Medical Appeal Exercise (MAE) by Thursday, 19 December 2024, 12pm.
Relevant supporting documents, such as medical reports and doctor letters, must accompany all appeals. Application without supporting documents, incomplete form or late submission, will not be processed.

12. Art Elective Programme/Music Elective Programme
If your child/ward exhibits interest, potential and passion for Art or Music, he/she can apply for Art/Music Elective Programme (AEP/MEP) in the following AEP/ MEP Centres from Secondary 1:
AEP: National Junior College
MEP: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
MEP: Dunman High School
Note: The date for online application is 2 to 15 January 2025. Click herefor more information.
Successful applicants will attend weekly lessons in the afternoon at the AEP/MEP Centre and are expected to commit to the programme for 4 years. Prior to application, interested students and their parents should work closely with the students’ secondary schools to ensure that their school timetable and commitments would allow them to participate fully in the AEP/MEP.
13. Safety & Security measures for exit and entry into school
Parents/guardians are to alight their child at the designated drop-off/pick-up point in front of the Security Counter.

15. Parents’ Support Group
The Queensway PSG is a dynamic community of parents who work together to support our students and school activities. By joining the PSG, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to enriching your child's educational experience, connect with other supportive parents, and play an active role in school events.
