Direct School Admission


DSA-Sec for Admission to Secondary 1 in 2020


From 2019, application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 8 May to 4 June 2019. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-sec.

The Direct School Admission (DSA-Sec) Exercise is a scheme which gives the school the flexibility to select students for admission based on the recognition of their achievements and talents other than just academic results achieved at the national examinations. 

QSS DSA-Sec Exercise 2019

Primary Six pupils may seek direct school admission into Queensway Secondary School before the Secondary One Posting Exercise (November 2019).

We invite pupils in Primary Six in 2019 to apply for DSA-Sec to the school in the following broad areas:

  • Bilingualism Talent Development Programme (English and Chinese)
  • Scientific Investigation and STEM-related areas
  • Leadership in any CCA groups
  • Sports & Outdoor Education
  • Other Talents

We have developed distinctive programmes in 

  1. Scientific Investigation as Applied Learning Programme
  2. Sports and Outdoor Education as Learning for Life Programme
  3. Bilingualism Talent Development Programme (English and Chinese)


The Admission Selection Criteria 
are as follow:

  • Strong aptitude and good performance with an excellent portfolio of awards and achievements in any of these: Sports, Outdoor Education & Adventure, Scientific Investigation, Research and Exploration and Languages (English and Chinese).
  • Good record of leadership and participation in school teams/programmes and community projects and have held leadership positions in any one of these: Sports, Outdoor Education & Adventure, ELDDS or CLDDS, Prefectorial Board or any CCA or Service Clubs or Environmental Champions/Ambassadors. 
  • Applicant must be willing to actively participate in environmental related areas, language talent activities and sports and outdoor education areas as part of their school programme requirements throughout their secondary education. 
  • Good consistent academic results in Primary 5 and 6 examinations.
  • Good conduct of applicant.

 

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

 Application Procedure

From 2019, application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 8 May to 4 June 2019. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-sec.

Application must be duly completed via the DSA portal by 4 June 2019, 3pm. Applications via fax, post or electronic mail will not be considered.

 

Selection Schedule

Only shortlisted applicants will be informed to attend a selection trial/test/interview. This will be scheduled between 1 July 2019 – 30 August 2019.

All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 20 September 2019.

Successful applicants will receive a School Preference Form on 21 October 2019 through their primary schools after which they will have to exercise their choice. Results of DSA will be released on the day as the release of PSLE results.

Queensway Secondary School reserves the right not to release the results and reasons for non-selection.
